Autumn Drives
Written by John Swartz
Lingering memories of melody and Autumn drives,
Gone in the twisted roads,
The dirt kicking rocks up on the mud flaps,
I can hear the engine whimper in solitude;
the radio sings to me like a mother's lullaby,
rocking me off to warm day dreams.
Elegant.
"Smile like an apple pie,
Set your straw hat on my head and walk on by,
it's just another perfect day;
until she shows up in pretty shoes and you both skip away."
Set your straw hat on my head and walk on by,
it's just another perfect day;
until she shows up in pretty shoes and you both skip away."
I hold the items that remind of those moments close,
The blue sky and the Autumn nights,
Those memorable emotions fill me with peace;
The calming of the thoughts that race through my mind,
Just like the easing of the breaks time slows,
for that moment we are together.
Quiet.
"I thought love could be so easy,
like pulling petals off a daisy,
as if these freckles weren't enough;
this curly red hair on my head is always tangled up."
like pulling petals off a daisy,
as if these freckles weren't enough;
this curly red hair on my head is always tangled up."
That old dirt road holds many memories,
those moments are still embedded in the dirt,
years gone by they exist whispering to me;
and all I can remember is that tea party,
that imaginary party with an apple pie,
that same old truck rattling by.
Memorable.
"I'm half her age and half her height,
and even in my Sunday dress I barely catch your eye,
I thought love could be so easy,
like pulling petals off a daisy."
Pulling into that old drive way,
the rocks now smoothed into powder,
it reminds me of the sand from Greenwood lake,
so hot to stand upon but it draws me closer to you;
I don't miss the old times so much,
For newer moments are there for me.
Home.

Fall
Fall is a gorgeous season. The colors on a tree changes. Gold, orange, and red; calling you to touch them. The wind kiss you gently on the cheek knowing that it miss you. Warming up the house; turkeys running away from the hunters. Animals looking for food, birds leaving us. Bugs running into houses. Blowing to see a like faint smoke in the air. Rake the wonderful leaves; jump into the pile and watch it ride on the wind. Sitting down, eating turkey with family. The beautiful sun go down; watch animals go hind from the silent cold wind. Flowers closing up, but will be back. Fall is one season that you can not miss out its lovely leaves.

Song of the Seasons
The girl who talked for days on end
Has collapsed around the bend
In a muddled pile
Out of the way
While her eyes sang songs of Summer,
Her heart was in Winter’s hold.
Her lips looked the red of Autumn
And her hair Spring’s spun gold.
A happy girl was she indeed
Helping everyone in need
To make them smile
And make them forget
And while her words sang songs of Summer,
Her heart was in Winter’s hold.
Her mind was well in Autumn,
But her thoughts Spring’s spun gold.
Still she left them all alone;
Finally returned back home
Where she is safe
Forevermore
Now she will forever sing songs of Summer,
Though she is Winter

Well, Readers another poem for you to read. This one just came to me really whilst sitting in bed. I suppose the meaning is to be about driving down somewhere that holds deep history to you. Not exactly memory lane but deeper than that, it's about the person and the actual history to it. Anyways, I hope you like this guys, I missed you.
Just so I don't get in trouble for it the italic parts of the poem are from a band called Shel and the song called Freckles. I will post the link to the song if you're interested. www.youtube.com/watch?v=a19yuF…
